House price growth remains tepid for ninth consecutive month

House prices grew just 0.6% in August compared to the same month last year, according to the latest Nationwide house price index. The mortgage lender’s latest report suggested an average house price of £216,096 in the month, a slight fall from July’s figure of £217,663.
